'Retail-to-go' | How it works in Southeast Texas

Starting today, you can get back to shopping at some of your favorite stores.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Curbside pickup and delivery only guidelines has a lot of us spending time in our cars when we're not home.

Governor Abbott’s promise to reopen the state with extra precautions is in full swing. Starting Friday, April 24, customers can get back to shopping at some of their favorite stores. It's called retail to-go.

There's still an effort to slow the spread of the virus, so there are rules from the Department of Health and Human Services that customers and employees will have to follow.

For starters, customers should pay over the phone to avoid contact. Once you pull up to pick up your order, an employee will place your items in either the trunk or the backseat of your car.

Employees will be required to wash and sanitize their hands after every interaction with a customer.

Workers will also have to disinfect every item they touch. Since social distancing guidelines are still in place, employees will have to stay six feet away from their coworkers.

Employees will also be screened before their shifts, which will include a temperature check.

If you don’t want to make the drive and would rather stay home, retailers are allowed to deliver items to your doorstep or mail them to you.
