BEAUMONT, Texas — If you're in Southeast Texas craving some Hooters hot wings, you'll have to drive 80 miles now that the Hooters in Beaumont has shut its doors for good.
The Hooters at 850 Interstate 10 in Beaumont abruptly shut down on Sunday along with several other locations around the country.
A paper sign on the restaurant's front door noted the store's closure and suggested patrons drive to the Hooters in Pasadena, which is 80 miles away, or the Hooters in Pearland, which is 97 miles away.
The company, in a statement, blamed market conditions for the closures of "a select number of underperforming stores."
However, there are 41 locations across the U.S. no longer listed on the Hooters website that had been there in mid-January. Each of those locations are listed as "permanently closed" on Google and their respective social media accounts were shut down.
The locations are spread across 14 states, with Texas having the most store closings by far: Texas has 16, while most of the other states have only a handful each.

Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores. Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances. With new Hooters restaurants opening domestically and internationally, new Hooters frozen products launching at grocery stores, and the Hooters footprint expanding into new markets with both company and franchise locations, this brand of 41 years remains highly resilient and relevant. We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
