Hardin-Jefferson students identified, removed from campus for conversation about a 'potential terroristic threat'

The district has decided to increase the presence of law enforcement at the high school for the safety of students, faculty and staff.

HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District will have increased police presence after some high school students were removed for having a conversation about a "potential terroristic threat."

Hardin-Jefferson ISD was made aware of a conversation that took place between high school students about a potential terroristic threat. 

Those students were identified and removed from campus, according to a Hardin-Jefferson ISD spokesperson.

Administration is working with police as they investigate the incident.

The students removed will not be on campus during the police investigation.

The district has decided to increase the presence of law enforcement at the high school for the safety of students, faculty and staff.

"We urge all parents to have conversations with their children about the serious nature of making threats, as these statements can result in significant legal consequences," said the district in a statement.
