HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — The body of a missing teen was found in Village Creek Tuesday morning less than 24 hours after he went missing while swimming.
His body was recovered at about 8: 30 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Capt. Ryan L. Hall, a game warden with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
He was named Tuesday afternoon as Eric Forse, 17, of Sour Lake, by Hardin County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Judge Chris Ingram.
Ingram has ordered an autopsy.
A "come and go time of worship and prayer" in memory of Forse will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at North End Baptist Church at 5115 Eastex Fwy.
A little after 2 p.m. Monday afternoon the Hardin County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a swimmer who went under the water and never resurfaced in Village Creek near Highway 96 just north of Lumberton, according to a news releases from the sheriff's office.
Initial reports say that a 17-year-old man was swimming with friends when he went under and never resurfaced.
Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens, National Park Service rangers, Silsbee Fire Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies and other first responders were involved in the search.
