Worker who died after incident at industrial site in Batson has been identified

Deputies learned that several employees were working on oil field equipment when a piece of equipment fell from above and hit a worker.

BATSON, Texas — The Hardin County Sheriff's Office has identified the worker who died in the fatal industrial accident in Batson on Thursday.

The worker has been identified as 23-year-old Kevin Allen Fregia, of Saratoga.

Around 12:45 p.m. Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Hardin County Constable Ross Jordan responded to 25375 FM Hwy 770, south of Batson, for an industrial accident.

Deputies learned that several employees were working on oil field equipment when a piece of equipment fell from above and hit a worker, according to a HCSO news release.

First responders attempted life saving measures at the scene but the worker died from his injuries, the release states.

Hardin County Justice of the Peace Mark Ames has ordered an autopsy. 

Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses to figure out what led to the accident.

Release of the victim's name will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
