Southeast Texas guide to trash, debris pickup after Imelda

Here's a guide on how each county and city will be collecting debris and trash after Imelda.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Below is a list compiled to help Southeast Texas know how cities and counties will be picking up trash and debris after Imelda left widespread damage. 

 

COUNTIES

  • Chambers County: Debris must be separated into category piles: Household trash, vegetative debris, construction & demolition debris, white goods, electronics, hazardous waste (see graphic sent by county.)

  • Hardin County: The County will be assisted by TxDOT to remove debris to pick up debris from uninsured residents in the following unincorporated areas of the county: Grayburg area, Countrywood Estates,Pinewood Estates and surrounding area in Sour Lake; Keith Road, Cooks Lake Road and surrounding area in Lumberton. Debris must be placed in the public right-of-way (the public right-of-way is the area of residential property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole, or easement.   • Jefferson County: Large debris pickup will begin Saturday in Jefferson County. If you live on a private road, debris will not be picked up along the private road. Debris must be put along the right of way of a public road.

  • Orange County: Debris must be put in CLEAR plastic bags only, debris piles must not block roadway and must be accessible to a grappling truck. Pickup date not yet set.

CITIES

  • City of Beaumont: The City of Beaumont has already begun heavy trash pickup. The city asks residents not to park cars on the streets in front of debris piles. The city also asks that debris piles not be placed on top of fire hydrants.

  • City of Orange: Debris pickup will begin Monday, Sept. 30 starting in the Hillbrook Estates area. Debris must not block roadway and should be placed in piles accessible to grappling truck. More details will be posted on the city’s website www.orangetexas.net

  • City of Vidor: The City of Vidor's roll-off dumpsters at 155 Watts will be available for storm debris Monday-Saturday from 7 am – 5 pm, unless the dumpsters are full. Additionally, there is a dumpster available for spoiled food. Residents of the City of Vidor may use the dumpsters for storm debris at no charge. A debris pickup date has not been set. The schedule will be set to match the county’s schedule.

  • City of Sour Lake: Not heavily affected. No special plans for debris pickup

  • Nederland: Debris must be separated into categories and pickup will begin on Saturday
