BEAUMONT, Texas — In honor of the upcoming National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gift of Life and the Young Men's Business League are installing nearly 200 eight-foot pink ribbon signs across Southeast Texas.
"The teal color is for ovarian cancer, and the pink is for Breast Cancer Awareness," said YMBL committee member and Gift of Life volunteer Alex Nieto.
On Saturday morning prior to breaking off into crews, YMBL volunteers had a meet and greet to honor the significance of their efforts in the fight against breast and ovarian cancer.
The 14th Annual Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run will take place on Saturday, October 26 in Downtown, Beaumont.
The installation of ribbon signs marks the beginning of initiatives that will take place throughout October. YMBL has adopted this community cause for the second consecutive year.
"We're getting ready for a 5k ribbon walk that's going to be next month in October," said Nieto. "And we're really looking forward to kind of getting everybody to seeing these so they can expect that, so they can go ahead and come out and be of full support of what we're doing."
