BURKEVILLE, Texas — Newton County deputies and Texas game wardens are continuing to search for a man last seen in the water Tuesday evening at a lodge a half mile west of Texas Highway 87 about 13 miles north of Burkeville.
A man was reported missing at about 5 p.m. after last being seen "going into the water" at the Scrappin Valley Lodge, according to Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby.
Texas Game Wardens and Newton County deputies searched for the man Tuesday evening and resumed Wednesday morning at 8 a.m., according to Burby.
Game wardens are in charge of the search which is now being considered as a recovery operation because of how much time has passed since the man was last seen in the water, Burby told 12News Wednesday morning.
