A funeral date has been set for murder victim, Cedathion Dill. Family members tell 12News he will be laid to rest at Borden Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, July 15.

12News learned new details in the case through a probable cause affidavit released from Jefferson County. According to the document, security cameras recorded the deadly shooting on the night of June 29th.

The video showed Dill walking on west on Hale Lane and Grand Avenue when a silver Buick LaCrosse stopped just past him.

That’s when a suspect exited the back driver’s side door and approached Dill from behind. The suspect later was identified as 24-year-old Darius Gardiner.

The document explains Gardiner chased Dill and fired his gun multiple times then took off running.

The probable cause affidavit also explains the driver of the silver car was a friend of Gardiner’s who asked him to pick him up at Pointe North Apartments.

However, Gardiner’s friend, Darrell Lewis, told police he was not aware Gardiner even had a gun.

Lewis explained to police he sped off in his car when he realized the incident had turned into more than just a fight.

Gardiner confessed to killing Dill and was arrested on a murder charge.
