Former Friendswood PD Chief Robert 'Bob' Wieners dies

The City of Friendswood announced his passing on their Facebook page. A memorial has been set up outside the Friendswood Police Department.

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — Former Friendswood police chief Robert ‘Bob’ Wieners, who served in the city for nearly a quarter century, has died, according to a post on social media made by the city on Saturday.

A memorial was set up outside the Friendswood Police Department at 1600 Whitaker Drive for those who wish to pay respects.  

The city didn’t give details of his death, but posted the message below on their Facebook page.

“It is with deepest regret that the City of Friendswood announces the passing of former Chief, Robert “Bob” Wieners.

Chief Wieners faithfully served the Friendswood community for 24 years. His commitment, leadership, and compassion touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Chief Wieners was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of strength in our city.

His legacy of integrity and dedication will forever be remembered, and his loss will be deeply felt by his family, colleagues, and the community he served so faithfully. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, friends, and all police department personnel during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Chief Wieners, your service will never be forgotten.”

According to Galveston Daily News, Wieners retired from the department last year. He was 71 years old. 

Funeral arrangements are pending.
