SOUR LAKE, Texas — If your children attend the Hardin-Jefferson School District and you are in need of help providing holiday gifts for your kids you've got until this Friday to apply for help from the Sour Lake Police Department.
The deadline to apply for assistance from the Sour Lake Police Department's third annual Angel Tree program is Friday, November, 3, 2023, according to a Sour Lake Police Department Facebook post.
Applications can be picked up at Sour Lake City Hall and dropped off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. located at 625 Hwy 105 West.
The purpose of the Angel Tree program is to help provide families in need with toys and clothing for children to open on Christmas morning.
This program is designed to allow members of the community to "anonymously" submit children that may be in need this holiday season, as well as allowing members of the community to give back to each other.
Ornaments from the Christmas Angel Tree will be available November 8, 2023 and will be located inside City Hall. The ornaments will have gift information for each child. For privacy reasons names will be excluded.
All ornaments must be logged with a city employee before being taken. Any citizen that wishes to give back this holiday season may come grab one or more ornaments.
Cash donations will be accepted and will be used to purchase gifts for ornaments not taken. Any money not used will be put into a fund for next year.
All applications will be kept confidential.
