BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont nonprofit has received a generous donation to fund their Meals on Wheels program.

The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Texas, presented $15,000 to Beaumont Nutrition & Services for Seniors.

Nutrition & Services for Seniors supports meals for seniors and home-bound disabled adults in Jefferson and Hardin Counties.

CEO Janci Kimball says this type of support will allow the agency to do all it can to help some of the most vulnerable people in Southeast Texas.

"We help seniors remain independent and healthy and in their own homes and currently, we serve noon meals Monday through Friday, and we do about 17 to 1,800 a day and that gets pretty costly, but it's the need is there and it continues to rise. We want to be able to answer that call," she said.

Kimball says the need is there and continues to rise.

"We want to be able to answer that call. We serve seniors throughout Jefferson and Hardin counties and Molina just steps in and this money will go towards even more people that are in need of our services," she said.

The nonprofit is always looking for additional volunteers.
