JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Many residents are without power after a large pine tree fell on a Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative three-phase electric line, causing it to fall on the ground.
FM 777 north of County Road 140 is currently closed in both directions due to the fallen tree and downed power lines.
The road closure will remain in effect this afternoon as crews from Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative and contractors make repairs to the damaged electrical lines.
There's no estimated time on when the roadway will reopen.
Any residents in the area who are experiencing power outages should be aware that this fallen tree is likely the cause.
In light of the ongoing efforts to restore power and clear the roadway, residents are reminded to thank an electrical lineman, according to the Beech Grove VFD.
