On today, the last day of black history month, a man who has truly made his mark on black history in Southeast, Texas was honored.
Jefferson county's first African American judge Donald Floyd
"I appreciate all of the people who came out in support of me with this particular honor", Judge Floyd said.
The ceremony took place today at the Jefferson County courthouse by the organization Save Our Children for his many contributions to the African American community.
"To give lawyers, African Americans, or anybody coming behind me an opportunity to let them know that they can achieve a judgeship just like me", Judge Floyd said.
He is not running for re-election this year, but he thanks the community for their continued support during the 29 years he has been re-elected.
