Firefighters extinguish fire at Woodville Pellets facility on Wednesday

The fire was inside the piping system of the facility that the pellets flow through.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Firefighters in Woodville spent several hours Wednesday afternoon putting out a fire at Woodville Pellets.

The Woodville Fire Department was alerted to the fire at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Facebook post by Woodville Fire Chief Alan Gartner.

When firefighters got to the facility on the south end of Woodville they could see smoke and fire coming from division one and two of the facility.

Firefighters determined that there was a fire in the piping system of the facility that the pellets flow through, according to Gartner.

It took firefighters until about 7:45 p.m. to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters from the Ivanhoe and Colmesneil fire departments assisted in fighting the fire.

Woodville Pellets makes up to 496,000 tons of wood biomass pellets per year at the facility according to their website. The company also operates a shipping terminal a the Port of Port Arthur.
