Firefighter hospitalized for heat exhaustion while battling fully involved house fire in Vidor

Responders were sent to the 1500 block of South Timberlane just after 11 a.m. Friday.

VIDOR, Texas — An Emergency Service District 1 firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion after responders battled a fully involved house fire Friday morning in Vidor. 

Firefighters were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Timberlane just after 11 a.m. after receiving reports that a structure was fully involved.

When responders got there, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the house, according to Orange County ESD1 Chief Smith. 

Orange County ESD 1 responded to the fire with assistance from Orange County ESD 4, Orange County ESD 2 and Pinehurst Fire. 

Vidor Police Department and Orange County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control and Acadian Ambulance responded as well.

The family was away from their home for two hours before the fire started. The house is considered a total loss and the Red Cross has been called to help the family.

There's no update on the firefighter's condition.

The State Fire Marshal's Office will be investigating the cause of the fire.
