GROVES, Texas — The Dollar General in Groves has reopened after closing due to fire violations.
On Thursday, Dec. 7, an indefinite closure of the Dollar General located at 3800 Main Avenue was ordered.
At that time, Groves Fire Marshal and Assistant Fire Chief Kelley Moore cited the store for ongoing life safety violations of the fire code including products stacked too close to ceiling, stocking carts blocking customer aisles, overcrowded storage room and an inoperable exit sign.
Moore says these violations directly impacted not only the safety of Doller General customers, but also it's employees.
“While we never want to resort to the closure of a business and we will work with a business in every way to avoid it, we must place the safety of the public and employees ahead of profit and sales taxes," Moore said previously.
The store was inspected again on Dec. 11.
"Follow-up inspections today and yesterday determined that all of the violations have been cleared. We appreciate Dollar General’s prompt resolution after the closure," said Groves Fire Investigator and Fire Code Official Josh Nelson.
The store is expected to reopen at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
