PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur leaders invite the community to learn about the increasing deadly threat of fentanyl, opioid abuse at a public meeting Thursday evening.
Ecclesia Church is hosting it's first public meeting "One Pill Can Kill" on the deadly threat of Fentanyl-opioid abuse in the Port Arthur community at 6 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2023 located at 5900 9th Avenue.
Speakers at the events are Jefferson County District Attorney, Keith Giblin, and City of Port Arthur Health Department personnel.
Ecclesia Church Office Administrator Isabella Torres says she was shocked to learn that the meeting's target audience are community members as young as 13-years-old.
"I think that really shows that it affects a really large population of parents, also, children. Just a very wide population. And it's a really important message to spread out, especially in times like this. So, it's a really amazing that the health department and the police come together to educate the community," Torres said.
