Faulty tool battery sparks fire at Vidor business

Chief Smith says that while they are still investigating, they think the fire was started by a tool with a lithium ion battery.

VIDOR, Texas — Orange County ESD1 along with other fire departments battled a fire after it erupted at C&R Transmission Tuesday evening.

Orange County ESD1 Chief Robert Smith says they got the call about a fire at 135 Garland Street around 5:30 a.m.

Multiple agencies eventually responded to put out the flames.

Chief Smith says that while they are still investigating, they think the fire was started by a tool with a lithium ion battery.

No injuries have been reported.
