TYLER COUNTY, Texas — The family of the youth pastor who was seriously injured in the church bus crash in Warren on Wednesday that involved several children and left another man dead launched a GoFundMe for his medical expenses.

Robert Craig is the youth pastor at the First Baptist Church of Warren, according to the fundraiser post.

He was driving the church bus on Highway 69 in Tyler County when a car pulled out from a driveway in front of the bus and he hit a tree trying to avoid the car, Texas DPS said eyewitnesses on scene reported.

Nine people were on the bus, including six children between 9 and 14 years old, Texas DPS said. One of the passengers, James Craft Jr., 42, of Woodville, died because of his injuries.

Craig is a Marine veteran with eight years of service, including three tours in Iraq, his family said.

"He has a long and hard road ahead of him," the fundraiser said. "Robert is the main contributor to his family and insurance isn’t going to cover all the medical bills along with their living expenses.

"I am asking if you cannot afford to help my family out that you offer them your prayers for a speedy and full recovery."
