Family escapes overnight house fire in Orangefield

A loud popping sound alerted the family, who then found their garage engulfed in flames.

ORANGEFIELD, Texas — A family in Orangefield escaped a house fire Thursday night without injury.

The fire happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of Windy Ln, according to fire captain Elgin Browning of the Orange County Emergency Services District Two Fire Department.

A loud popping sound alerted the family, who then found their garage engulfed in flames, according to Browning.

When firefighters arrived they found the garage fully engulfed in flames.

The home was severely damaged by fire, water and smoke.

No injuries were reported, according to Browning.

Firefighters from departments from West Orange and Orange County ESDs Three and Four assisted in fighting the fire, Browning said.
