Friends and family of Cedathion Dill gathered on Monday for a candlelight vigil and a balloon release in North Beaumont.

Friends and family of Cedathion Dill gathered on Monday for a candlelight vigil and a balloon release in North Beaumont.

A cross stood on the corner of Hale Lane and Grand Avenue at Pointe North Apartments where police say he was gunned down last Thursday.

“My brother was just the person who was laid back and very kind and he’s been trying to get his life right with God and I wish this would’ve never happened.” Said Jakkia Eaglin.

Eaglin remembered her brother as a calm man before his life was taken away.

“He had a very infectious smile. Most of the pics on social media he was always smiling.” Said Demetrius Wilson.

Wilson held the vigil with a prayer and singing on Monday.

Dill leaves behind his 1-year-old son who was wearing red in honor of his father’s favorite color.

Dill’s death is marked as the 9th homicide this year in Beaumont according to police.

Family members are still trying to figure out a date for his funeral.
