NEWTON, Texas — Newton Volunteer Fire Department had their hands full Sunday evening, as they worked to wrangle two separate grassfires caused by fallen electrical lines.

12 firefighters, two auxiliary and four trucks responded to battle the flames which consumed about three acres of forest.

After that, they had a second callout just one mile away from the first party to which the Texas Forrest Service responded.

NVFD says though we are not under a burn ban, it is encouraged to use caution when burning due to low humidity and dry conditions.
