BEAUMONT — ExxonMobil staff contained an electrical fire at the Beaumont refinery on Saturday night.
The fire broke out about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, but it was contained by 8:30 p.m.
There were no release of hydrocarbons, ExxonMobil spokesperson Ashley Alemayehu told 12News. No injuries were reported.
Exxon Mobil staff notified all appropriate agencies, Alemayehu said.
"Our highest priority is the safety of our workforce and community," ExxonMobil said in a statement. The company will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
As a result of the fire, the refinery is transitioning other units to a “safe-park” mode, which will result in ongoing flaring.
