BEAUMONT, Texas — Three Southeast Texas counties and a city have all issued disaster declarations in the wake of Wednesday's storms and resulting damage from flooding and wind.
Jasper, Newton, and Hardin Counties as well as the City of Kirbyville all declared disasters on Wednesday.
Many residents in each jurisdiction were affected or displaced by flooding following thunderstorms that passed through Southeast Texas overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
Thousands of residents were left without power following the storm.
Jasper County Judge Mark Allen issued a declaration of disaster for Jasper County on Wednesday at 7:56 a.m.
Mayor Frank George issued a declaration of disaster for the City of Kirbyville on Wednesday around 1:48 p.m.
Judge Ronnie Cochran issued a declaration of disaster for Newton County on Wednesday at 4:22 p.m.
Judge Wayne McDaniel issued a declaration of disaster on Wednesday night after 9 p.m. Judge McDaniel encourages residents and businesses located in low-lying areas of the Village Creek Corridor to consider evacuating due to rising water levels along the Village Creek Basin.
