Dirt work begins on new Jasper Air Rescue hangar, office building

BEAUMONT, Texas — Dirt work has begun on the new Air Rescue Beaumont/Jasper, Air Evac Lifeteam hangar and office building in Jasper.

The hangar facility, located on Thomas Road, will be larger than the previous one.

It will include a new landing pad, all under fence and will be more secure. It will be connected to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital by a covered walkway, according to our Jasper media partners, East Texas Banner.

There will be enough room for a larger rotorcraft and will have room for multiple rotorcraft storage in the event of coastal evacuations during a hurricane.

The office building will include offices, a kitchen, common area and storage.  It will also include staff bedrooms for each of the three crew members on duty with private bathrooms for each, according to East Texas Banner.

The Jasper Hospital District committed to this project along with receiving a commitment from the Air Evac Lifeteam administration to make the Jasper base a 24-hour continuously staffed base.

For Jasper and it's surrounding areas, this means if weather permitting, there will be faster access to medical facilities providing the highest levels of care.

This new facility is being constructed on a property owned by the Jasper Hospital District and is located just north of Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in the new Medi-Plex.
