DEWEYVILLE — Deweyville ISD announced that school will be closed Monday due to river levels.

The Deweyville ISD Safety and Flood team met and decided that the district will not be asking residents to risk bringing students to school Monday, January 7, Deweyville ISD Superintendent Keith Jones said in an emailed statement. Students and staff will both be off.

"We have analyzed the situation on a road-by-road basis and have taken into consideration river levels and predicted changes," Jones said. "We would like to thank Commissioner Thompson for bringing his knowledge and advice."

Deweyville ISD said they plan to reassess the situation Monday afternoon and will update the community on the plan for Tuesday.

The district said they will post updates to the Deweyville ISD website and the What's Up Deweyville Facebook page and asked parents and staff to check back around dinner time on Monday for a decision about Tuesday.
