DEWEYVILLE — Residents are complaining about County Road 4155 near Highway 12 in Deweyville constantly floods when it rains.
Newton county commissioner Gene Thompson says that officials are aware of the issue. However, Thompson says that making repairs during the flooding is a safety hazard for county workers.
The flooding is not only destroying the roads, but also damaging the levee holding back the Sabine river. A resident says that the county is doing a poor job of keeping up with the repairs which has caused her elderly father's home to flood.
"My dad has lived there for 30 plus years," said Carla Parker, a Deweyville resident. "Never have we had to worry about flood in our homes."
Thompson says that the water has receded and that city workers are currently repairing the levy and the roads.
