BEAUMONT, Texas — A body was found in the water in Beaumont.
Beaumont Police Department Public Information Officer Carol Riley says a deceased body was found in the water Friday afternoon.
The body was found around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 on the 4500 block on North Major Drive in Beaumont.
Beaumont Police Officers were sent at 1:47 p.m. to the LNVA canal. The officers and and Beaumont firefighters arrived to location and made contact with the complainant, an LNVA employee.
The employee showed them where he observed the body floating in the canal.
Beaumont Fire fighters were able to bring the body to the northern canal bank.
After further investigation, the body was determined to be that of an unknown male.
Justice of the Peace Benjamin Collins ordered an autopsy.
This is an ongoing investigation.
