Damaged fiber line disrupts internet, phone services in Jasper

JASPER, Texas — A damaged fiber line has affected internet service and disabled some phone lines in the City of Jasper. 

Contractors have damaged a fiber line between Jasper and Kirbyville that serves the Jasper area, according to the city.

"We have been advised that a fiber line has been cut or damaged in the Jasper area which has disabled all phones to City Hall and Jasper Police Department," said the city in a social media update.

AT&T workers are onsite and have started making repairs to the damaged line.

Workers say that it could take some time to repair the fiber line.

Jasper says this has affected internet and some cellphones in the area.

The city will update residents as they find out more information. The City of Jasper urges residents to share the numbers to the Jasper Police Department and City Hall.
