BEAUMONT, Texas — Country music legend and Beaumont native, Mark Chesnutt, suffered a major health scare over the weekend according to the singer's official Facebook page.
The post said that Chesnutt experienced a "heart health issue" that hospitalized him and prompted doctors to perform an emergency quadruple bypass surgery Sunday, June 16.
Chesnutt is reportedly recovering from the surgery and will have to cancel upcoming shows in order to recuperate.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows. I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support, and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky-tonk near you," Chesnutt said in the post.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
