BEAUMONT, Texas — A third-party company is coming to Beaumont next week to perform audits and check for utility billing accuracy.
This audit will be performed by Water Company of America on the city's water, sewer, storm water and solid waste accounts, according to a news release from the City of Beaumont.
The city wants to confirm that they are "fairly and accurately" billing customers for utility services.
Water Company of America was hired by the city to spot-check water meters across Beaumont, which they will be assessing from December 2023 through November 2026, according to the release.
City officials want to warn residents that if they see personnel from this company, they are legitimate contractor hired by the City of Beaumont.
These workers should also have an authorized later on hand for residents to explain what they're doing. If any discrepancies are found, they will be "addressed on an individual basis."
"Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we continue to work to improve service to our customers," the city said in the release.
