City releases names of five finalists for Beaumont Police Chief

The City of Beaumont received more than 50 applications for the job.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The City of Beaumont has released the names of five finalists for Beaumont Police Chief.

On Wednesday the City of Beaumont released its timeline for filling the top cop job saying they would have a list of finalists by Friday.

The city received more than 50 applications for the job, according to a news release from the city.

The finalists include three men and two women.

They are...

  • Jeff Hadley - Chatham County Police Chief, Savannah Ga.
  • Kyra Joy Hope - 2nd Deputy Chief, Detroit Police Department
  • Jason Plunkett - Assistant Chief, Beaumont Police Department
  • Troy Price - Deputy Chief, Vancouver (WA Police Department
  • Britta Steinbrenner - Former Chief of Public Safety, Pepperdine University

Longtime police chief Jimmy Singletary announced in January 2024 that he planned to retire in March 2024, according to file stories.

In March 2024 Singletary pledged to stay on the job until his replacement could be found.

On July 10, 2024, the community will have a chance to meet them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the downtown Beaumont Event Centre.

The next day, on July 11, 2024, Beaumont City Manager Kenneth Williams and other city officials will interview all five candidates.
