City of Nederland customers no longer need to conserve water after large waterline break repaired

A contractor broke a large waterline near Nederland Avenue Monday afternoon.

NEDERLAND, Texas — The City of Nederland is no longer asking customers to conserve water after a main water break was repaired Monday night.

The request came after a contractor broke a large waterline near Nederland Avenue, according to a City of Nederland release. City Manager Chris Duque told 12New the break happened around Monday afternoon.

Crews were on-site Monday night working to repair the break.

The east side of Nederland was impacted. Duque himself experienced low water pressure during the break.

The break was located on S 1st 1/2 Street and Nederland Avenue.

Water pressure should return to normal over several hours. Residents close to the 5th Street water tower were the most impacted, according to Duque.

This is a developing story. 12News will update this article with more information if and when we receive more.
