BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont city leaders and Beaumont Independent School District are partnering to help keep Beaumont beautiful.
"Beautify Beaumont", a community litter clean-up event, is planned for November 3, 2023. It will take place all over the city from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Volunteers can register as an individual or a team by filling out a form online here. If you register on October 24, you will get a free t-shirt. Gloves and garbage bags will be available on the day. Free lunch will also be provided.
"We are planning on having more of these and incorporating more organizations as well as the school district. Maybe do it a little more frequently. Because we know how important a clean community is," said Beaumont Mayor Roy West.
There will be a friendly competition between wards with prizes for the most trash collected.
Ward 1 and 2 volunteers are meeting at Central Park Community Center located at 640 Fourth Street. Ward 3 and 4 volunteers are meeting at Alice Keith Community Center located at 4050 Reed Street.
Mayor West hopes this event will get residents to second guess throwing trash where it doesn't belong.
"A cleaner city is a more attractive city across the board whether it's at school, whether it's in public places or along the road.. it all matters," he said.
