BEAUMONT - TxDOT plans on widening interstate I-10 to three lanes in each direction west of Beaumont. However, this will force the removal of the Brooks Road overpass.
The widening project stretches from FM 365 at the interstate, all the way to Walden road.
There would also be improved access at smith road, along with improved drainage and the extension of frontage roads west of Smith Road.
A worker at the Gulf Coast R-V Resort located near the brooks road overpass says that the project would put a damper on their business.
"It be a problem for our park and guests because they would have to travel farther, said Anna Bab, an employee at the park.
The project is scheduled to begin later next year. However, the agency doesn’t know when the Brooks Road overpass will be taken down.
