BEAUMONT, Texas — A restaurant is now open right outside Lamar University's campus called Boomtown Square.
The new food spot is an addition to the museum. Lamar is hoping it will attract tourists who are passing through Beaumont.
If you love bar-b-que, Boomtown Square will have your taste buds tingling. The restaurant serves everything from smoked brisket to banana pudding.
"It's a very big staple of Texas and Beaumont. We're very proud of our bar-b-que and I think everyone brings a different flavor to the table," said museum director, Jeanna Summy.
Boomtown Square is now open on Lamar University's campus next to Spindletop Boomtown Museum.
"It goes very well with Spindletop Museum Boomtown, which is in the name of the museum. They wanted to create a community spot where they do special events and what brings people to special events is food and food brings everybody together," said Bryce Sinclair, the senior food service director.
What was previously known as Tiny House Bar-B-Que has been re-branded into Boomtown Square in order to promote the museum.
Whether you're a student or you just have a love for bar-b-que, You an treat your taste buds to brisket, pork and chicken.
Sinclair says customers can expect an unforgettable dining experience.
"We offer Buckstin Brew which is a local brewery here in town. He's an alum of Lamar as well," Sinclair said.
Summy says the museum also plans to add a pavilion to the property next and host live music events.
"We want to get the community out here they're, our legacy. They've been very loyal to the museum but we also are two blocks away from Lamar University dorms and so we want this to be a student life campus lively location for them to come hang out not only just to learn about the history of Beaumont," Summy said.
