Police speaking to 'person of interest' in fatal December 2023 shooting at Beaumont trail ride

The fatal shooting, which also wounded four others, happened in the 6500 block of Bigner Rd.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police have found a "person of interest" in connection with a December 2023 shooting  that left a Houston man dead and wounded four others at a north Beaumont trail ride.

Detectives are speaking to Kindall Anderson, 19, of Beaumont, about the shooting that claimed the life of Rodtravian Perry, 25, of Houston, on Dec. 30, 2023.

The shooting, which also wounded four others, happened in the 6500 block of Bigner Rd.

Anderson was also currently wanted on two felony warrants for evading police and tampering with evidence according to police.

When the shooting happened, at about 11:33 p.m. on a Saturday night, EMS was not able to get to the victims due to the estimated crowd of 1,000 attending the trail ride so officers had to carry the victims through the crowd, according to Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow.

Police told 12News they had to call in other law enforcement agencies to help clear out the crowd, which included ATVs, horses, trailers, trucks and other vehicles.

They had received multiple calls complaining about the massive crowd throughout the night.

Beaumont Police Chief Jimmy Singletary told 12News previously that the crowd was not cooperating with the investigation.

"They wouldn't let our officers get to the crime scene, who were in their vehicles, the officers had to park at the crime scene and walk around to the victims to try to render aid. So, it was, it was horrible that there's been absolutely no cooperation," he said.
