Beaumont Police release name after DNA results identify human skull found in 2016

Beaumont Police have released the identify of a woman whose skeletal remains were found more than a year ago in the south end of the city.

A human skull that was found near Fannett Road and South 23rd Street in September 2016 has been identified through DNA as belonging to Rebecca Sue Myers according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Police have determined that Myers, who was never reported missing, was last seen leaving the Jefferson County Correctional Center in August 2009. She was 42 at the time.

The cause and manner in which Myers died has not been determined and detectives are working to put together a timeline of her last known whereabouts the release said.

Police have been unable to locate any family to notify about her death.

Detectives have received DNA results from the human skull that was located in the area of Fannett and South 23rd Street, last September.

The victim has been identified as Rebecca Sue Myers (pictured below).

Rebecca was not reported missing and Detectives have been unable to locate next of kin at this time.

A cause and manner of death have not been determined. Detectives are working to put together a timeline of Rebecca’s last known whereabouts, including who she may have been with.

Our records indicate that Rebecca was last seen leaving the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on August 31, 2009. She was 42 years old at that time.

Our hope is that someone remembers Rebecca and can help Detectives piece together a timeline leading up to when she was last seen alive.

***Original Press Release*** September 29, 2016 On Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 6:30pm, Beaumont Police responded to the area of Fannett Road and South 23rd Street, in reference to the discovery of a human skull.

Since the discovery, Detectives have been working with the Jefferson County Crime Lab to search the area for additional evidence.

The skull has been sent to the lab for forensic analysis however, there is no timeline for the results.

Pending conclusive results from the lab, detectives will search the National Missing Persons Database for a profile match.
