BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont Police officer who was found unresponsive beneath an Interstate 10 overpass Tuesday morning is being discharged from the hospital after possibly suffering a medical emergency.
Police officers and medics were sent to beneath the Interstate 10 overpass on the southside of the railroad tracks just north of College St. Tuesday morning.
Dispatchers got a call from a citizen just after 7:30 a.m. that an officer was found unresponsive outside his vehicle beneath the overpass, according to police.
Police said the officer was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he was treated for a possible medical emergency.
The officer was on duty but not on a call when he was found, according to police.
Police tell 12News the officer is being discharged Thursday.
