Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley retires after 32 years of serving community

She began her career with the department in August 1992 as a patrol officer and served as a public information officer for the last 14 years.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont Police Department announced that Officer Carol Riley is retiring after serving the citizens for over three decades.

After 32 years of dedicated service, Officer Carol Riley is hanging up her badge.

She began her career with the department on August 12, 1992, in the patrol division as a beat officer, protecting the streets of Beaumont.

After seven years as a patrol officer, she transferred to the Narcotics and Vice Division, where she worked undercover locally and with the FBI Task Force. She investigated numerous narcotics and sex crime cases in some of the most dangerous areas of the city.

Officer Riley then began a new role as a field training officer, teaching new recruits the ins and outs of serving as effective and professional police officers.

In 2010, she moved to the agency's Public Relations Department as a public information officer.

She played a critical role in media relations and information sharing during some of Beaumont's worst natural disasters.

Her work as a liaison between the department and the public helped keep citizens informed during those challenging times.

Officer Riley has served as a public information officer for the last 14 years, leading up to her retirement.

She says she is looking forward to spending more time with her family.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if or when we receive more confirmed information.
