BEAUMONT, Texas — A longtime Beaumont resident got to celebrate a milestone birthday with an extravagant party.
The cold and drizzly weather didn't stop Annie B. Scott Moye from celebrating her 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends at the Beaumont Event Centre.
"Elated and delighted to just have all these beautiful people here with me to celebrate. I am just overjoyed," said Moye.
Moye has published over 1,000 gospel songs and poems, as well as a historical book titled "The Pear Orchard".
She has done many things for her community over the decades, and today they returned the favor by celebrating her along with the five generations of her family.
She even shared her secret to a living a long and full life.
"Serving the Lord and obeying. Praying every day and loving everybody. Sharing and doing what you can for your neighbor. As a friend and servant of God," Moye said.
Moye's actual birthday is on November 27, but the family decided to celebrate a little early.
