Beaumont ISD takes community partners on a bus tour to visit three different campuses

Administrators want their input on how the the district can improve.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Independent School District administrators invited different community partners to tour buses and three BISD campuses.

Administrators want their input on how the the district can improve.

BISD leaders said they wanted to give people on the tour a look at how they are helping students prepare for their future.

Dozens of people showed up for the first ever caravan tour, allowing school board members, community business partners and parents to come in with questions for the district.

"These are our kids this is our community, and by constantly bad mouthing online the school, we aren't helping them. We are not lifting them up. We are not making it better for them. To help the student reach their potential, that is what the students need right now," said Beaumont Community Players Resource Development Julia Rodriguez.

They boarded a school bus and visited West Brook High School, Odom Middle School and Charlton Pollard Elementary.

West Brook High School Principal Nicholas Phillips shared why this caravan is so important, especially in the middle of the TEA ratings rule change.

"Not knowing what the rules are gonna be with what the new system is gonna look like. Until TEA comes from that, we want to make sure the community knows that we did see gains across the board," said Phillips.

Another tour will take place in February, and showcase different campuses according to BISD.
