Wednesday night Beaumont crash leaves one man dead, one woman in hospital

On Wednesday, September 18, around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a major crash at Brooklyn Street and Grant Street.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating a crash that left one person dead on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, September 18, around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a major crash at Brooklyn Street and Grant Street.

A black Honda Accord, was driving northbound on Brooklyn at Grant, and went through the intersection into the path of an oncoming Cadillac that was driving eastbound on Grant.

A witness told officers that the Cadillac was speeding.

The driver of the Honda, 58-year-old Arthur Thomas, of Beaumont, was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries.

A 57-year-old woman from Beaumont was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.  

The driver of the Cadillac, a-31-year-old Beaumont man, had minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
