BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Animal Care worked diligently to relocate a small alligator from a residential neighborhoods ditch Wednesday afternoon.
However, according to Beaumont Animal Care, what the gator lacked in size it more than made up for in willpower.
Several attempts were made to lure the alligator out of the culvert using bacon and sausage, but the stubborn reptile refused to budge.
Eventually Beaumont Animal care decided to call in the reinforcements and contacted Beaumont Fire Rescue for backup.
Beaumont Fire Rescue showed up with a few tricks of their own, but the crafty critter remained steadfast in its culvert.

After all these efforts proved fruitless, it was decided to simply try to wait the alligator out, as you may have suspected the alligator proved to be more patient.
Eventually after all possible options were exhausted, Beaumont Animal Care decided to just let the alligator go in peace.
"We like to think we let the gator win, but we must give it up to one determined gator!" Beaumont Animal Care said in a Facebook post.
In the matchup of The City of Beaumont vs. alligator, it's officially 1-0 gator. However, with heavy flooding over the year and summer now upon us, there will likely be many more faceoffs to come.
