BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Animal Care is asking for donations so they can continue a program that has saved animals lives called animal transports.
Animal transports takes the animals of Southeast Texas and sends them all over the country to find a loving home.
With over 108 dogs in the Beaumont Animal Care shelter, they have been looking for solutions to the amount of dogs they take in.
Transporting animals to rescues or other shelters gives them the best possibility at finding their forever home, while keeping their animal intake below their 90 dog limit.
Each transport is costly, reaching up to $600, which is why shelter coordinator Viviana Lopez is urging the public to think about donating to their cause.
"Sometimes they require more extensive testing vaccines and medications. Just one box of 40 tests cost around $800 so we would love to have enough tests on hand whenever we need to set up a transport," Lopez said.
This helps Beaumont Animal Care euthanize less animals than necessary.
If you would like to donate you can do so on their website.
