VIDOR, Texas — Bar B Western Store announced that it's closing the doors after nearly 50 years serving the Vidor community.
From selling jeans, belts and boots, the family run business is finally hanging up their hat and going into retirement.
Items are being sold at discounted prices as they are working to get all their merchandise out of the store.
Since the doors opened in 1976, people in the Vidor community have been serviced with kindness and a smile. Owner Patsy Bond is thankful for the community.
"The people that come in here they are family to me," she said. "I'm telling you, I love 'em," she said.
She started the business with her husband James Bond nearly 50 years ago.
"The for sale sign that was on the ground, it was like it was meant to be," she said. "It was meant to be to have this land and have this store."
After decades of selling western wear from jeans to hats, Bond is closing the store to prepare for retirement.
"Somebody came and wanted to buy the property and so you know we thought, you know that if we got a buyer," said Bond. "It's the chance for us to step down and do what we want."
One loyal customer, Rodney Whitmire, has deep connections to the store.
"It's a landmark you know, it's part of Vidor and you know it always will be," he said. "Mrs. Bond, she was my fifth grade teacher so there is a connection there."
The pictures on display document the store's grand opening and the people who worked there over the years.
"I appreciate all the customers we had over all these years, because they have been repeat customers, so evidently they liked out service," said Bond. "They have our hearts and we have theirs we just love them."
The doors will remain open open until customers purchase the remaining stock of boots, jeans and more. They will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
