Lion Elastomers facility reports 'breaker flash' in Port Neches, police chief says no fire was caused

When 12News reached out about reports of loud noises heard in Port Neches, Chief Lemoine says the facility had a breaker flash in the utilities area

PORT NECHES, Texas — After a number of social media posts on Wednesday night around 9 p.m., 12News reached out to Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine about loud noises being heard in Port Neches.

Lemoine says Lion Elastomers reported they "experienced a breaker flash in the utilities area of their facility."

In a post on the department's page, Lemoine says the flash wasn’t near any hydrocarbons, and no fire was caused. He says there isn't any danger to the community and the all-clear was given over the facility's loudspeaker for personnel.

In a message to 12News, Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick also reported some noise may be due to the Air Liquide facility restarting after a loss of power on Wednesday night.
