BEAUMONT, Texas — Acadian is giving hopeful future emergency medical technicians (EMT) a chance to take free courses.
The emergency provider says the classes will offer students a chance to learn life-saving and medical care skills, so they can eventually become certified EMTs.
The classes will cover everything from basic life support skills to complex emergency situations, according to Christopher Fields, an Acadian instructor.
"We do airway training, so we teach you how to help someone who's not breathing anymore. We teach them how to administer or assist with certain medications, we teach them how to deliver babies, I mean, pretty much anything that is required for an emergency situation at the very most basic level," Fields said.
The classes will be held at the National EMS Academy campus located a 550 I-10 Suite 200 in Beaumont.
Acadian says students will still need to cover costs for registration, testing fees, books and uniforms.
Classes start July 15 and students can register on the National EMS Academy website.
