3-year-old boy dies after being pulled from water at Beaumont Event Centre, mother in critical condition

Police say the boy's mother is in ICU

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police confirmed a 3-year-old boy has died after he and his mother were pulled out of the water outside the Event Center on Wednesday afternoon. 

Both were taken to the hospital according to Officer Haley Morrow. The child's mother is in critical but stable condition in ICU. Beaumont Police, Fire and EMS were all called at 2:30 p.m. 

The caller said it looked like a child fell in the water and an adult was trying to get the child out. 

First responders were able to get the mother out of the water, and Beaumont Fire Dive Team recovered the little boy. 

The Event Centre is located on Crockett St.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2:30 p.m., Beaumont Police, Fire & EMS responded to The Event Centre Lake, located at 700 Crockett Street in reference to a possible drowning. When first responders arrived, they recovered the mother of the child from the lake, began life-saving efforts and transported her to a local hospital. Beaumont Fire Rescue Dive team arrived on scene a short time later and recovered the 3 year old child from the lake. First responders began life-saving efforts on the child and transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. At this time the mother has been listed in critical but stable condition in ICU. The investigation is on-going.
